Keynote Talk at HAP 2026

Toward Holistic System Security: Isolation and Practical Analysis Across the Stack

Professor Takahiro Shinagawa delivered a keynote talk at the 1st Workshop on Holistic Architecture for Privacy in Clouds, Edges, and IoT (HAP 2026), held in Charlotte, USA, on June 22, 2026.

The title of the talk was “Toward Holistic System Security: Isolation and Practical Analysis Across the Stack.”

The talk discussed the need to consider the entire computing stack, including hardware, hypervisors, operating systems, libraries, and applications, when designing secure computer systems.

In particular, Professor Shinagawa presented research on isolation mechanisms based on virtualization and confidential computing, as well as practical program analysis using fuzzing and large language models. The talk described how security mechanisms at different layers can be combined to improve the security of the system as a whole.

HAP 2026 is an international workshop on privacy and data protection in cloud, edge, and Internet of Things (IoT) platforms. It promotes a holistic approach spanning computer architecture, system software, and formal verification. The workshop was co-located with the IEEE/IFIP International Conference on Dependable Systems and Networks (DSN 2026).
